Ten Reasons to Go for a Pittsburgh Vacation

The City of Pittsburgh in Pernnsylvania used to be a blue-collar town of coal, steel, and iron industries. Yes, the grime, the heat, and the hard work have paid off. It is now a promising city of art, beauty, culture, and other lifestyle modernity. So, what is there to see in a Pittsburgh vacation?

I have gathered here a list of museums, historical centers, and other city attractions for the artistically-inclined visitors up for a Pittsburgh vacation:

  1. Andy Warhol Museum. It is a gallery for Pittsburgh’s coolest celebrity, Andy Warhol, addressing art thru his movies and pop art. It also keeps classic cans of Campbell’s soup and portraits of celebrities. And it also hosts frequent screenings and quirky performances in its theatre.
  2. Carnegie Museums. These are the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The former museum engages in exhibits featuring architecture and American paintings from impressionistic to modernistic styles. The latter museum is a host for the geological and prehistoric artifacts on Pennsylvania.
  3. Fort Pitt Museum. Located at famous summer spot Point State Park, the museum serves a commemorative gallery for historic heritage of the Indian and French War.
  4. Pittsburgh Children’s Museum. It features a space sculpture, Jim Henson and Mister Rogers’ exhibits, and other child-friendly works of Warhol.
  5. Carnegie Science Center. It is a science-related museum and a great haven for kids to discover creative exhibits and more.
  6. Frick Art & Historical Center. The center showcases paintings of Henry Clay Frick from Italian, Flemish, and the French genre. Also in the center are automobiles of Frick like 1914 model of Rolls Royce, at least five acres of garden and grounds, and the Frick Mansion that was restored.
  7. National Aviary. Here is a wildlife treat with beyond 600 endangered and exotic bird species that are flying freely around the controlled aviary.
  8. Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. For the outdoor-loving individuals, this is the best attraction for you, with four parks to boats of – Schenley Park, Highland Park, Frick Park, and Riverview Park. Schenley has a golf course and a public swimming pool. Highland has a bicycling track, tennis courts, and also a swimming pool. Frick has a bowling spot, clay courts, and hiking trails. Highland has a horseback riding trail and sporting ball fields.
  9. Sandcastle Waterpark. Kids will surely love this spot. A water-themed park, it features a Boardwalk Blasters shotgun slides, Thunder Run inner-tube river, and a Mon Tsunami tidal wave pool.
  10. Cathedral of Learning. Sights here are the Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburg. Also, the streets are loaded with inexpensive cafeterias, shops, and student houses. But the Cathedral of Learning is a grand 42-story Gothic tower and is considered to be the second-tallest education structure in the globe.

A Pittsburgh vacations offers more than what meets the eye. The listing above is just a glimpse of the artistic and socially-relevant attractions that might appeal to your senses for a unique vacation experience.

You missed a great museum - The Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum at 1212 Smallman Street in the Strip District. No place better to learn about the championship teams and regular people who helped to make this region the great place it is.
